Michelle Buteau to Host the Virtually 42nd BRIC Celebrate Brooklyn Festival
The 42nd BRIC Celebrate Brooklyn festival will be hosted by actress and comedian Michelle Buteau, she is known for her role in the remake of The First Wives Club and popular Netflix series The Circle. This year festival will be held virtually. It will be a two-day experience that will air on digital platforms such as YouTube, Facebook, and BRIC’s TV Channels on Saturday, July 25th, and Sunday, July 26th at 8 PM.
BRIC is the leading arts and media institution held in downtown Brooklyn. In the past forty years, BRIC has contributed to Brooklyn culture and media presenting media makers, students, and artists. It has been the longest running free festival in Brooklyn.
David Ehrenberg, president and CEO of the Brooklyn Navy Yard Development Corporation will be honored with the 2020 Celebrate Brooklyn Award. David is responsible for its diversity and ongoing expansion efforts for BRIC.
Along with awards, there will be performances from Common with Robert Glasper and Karriem Riggins, Roots co-founder and DJ Questlove, Nigerian singer/songwriter Yemi Alade, Grammy award-winning singer/songwriters Lila Downs and Angelique Kidjo. Caribbean soca group KES, Brooklyn-based singer/songwriter Madison McFerrin, rapper and actress Junglepussy, Puerto Rican pop duo Buscabulla, and Swedish singer/songwriter The Tallest Man on Earth.
