Georgia Man Arrested For Fatally Shooting Girl Following Racial Attack

June 14th, Statesboro Police Department responded to an incident involving 17 year old Haley Hutchenson of Reidsville, Ga being shot . Shortly after transporting her to East Georgia Medical Hospital she was pronounced dead due to her injuries. Detectives worked quickly to find the suspect of this deadly shooting. On June 17th, 21 year old Marcus Wilson, turned himself in for the previous incident.

According to witnesses Marcus and his girlfriend were out in town when Haley and group of friends were following them around in a local store. It was stated that racial slurs were being made to Marcus and his girlfriend, calling his girlfriend “n**** lover”. When Marcus was leaving to avoid confrontation Haley and her friends followed Marcus and tried to run him off the road. It was then when Marcus fired his gun trying to scare them off and unfortunately it led to Haley being struck by a bullet.

Now Marcus is being held in Bulloch County Jail and is charged with one-count of felony murder and aggravated assault. No court date have been set and the investigation is still ongoing.
